What to See Inside Książ Castle
The Maximilian Hall, the state rooms, the terraces and the details most visitors miss
Książ is big, and it rewards a little planning. Here are the highlights to make sure you catch as you move through Silesia's largest residence.
The state rooms and the Maximilian Hall
The audioguide route leads through the residential and ceremonial floors to the Maximilian Hall, the grandest room in the castle and the natural centrepiece of a visit. Take your time with the decorative detail and the family history the rooms carry — much of the Hochberg and Daisy story is told here.
The terraces and the view
Step out onto the baroque terraces stacked below the towers. They give the best views over the Pełcznica gorge and back across the castle's own facade — the photograph most people come for. In warm months the gardens are worth lingering in.
Frequently asked
How much of the castle can I visit?
The ticketed route covers the main state rooms, the Maximilian Hall and the terraces. Some areas are used for events or are not open to visitors; the underground tunnels are a separate guided route.
Do I need the audioguide?
The Castle with Audioguide ticket includes it, and it genuinely adds to the visit — the rooms mean much more once you know the families and stories behind them.
