Frequently asked questions

Is this a skip-the-line ticket?

Your entry is reserved before you arrive, so you walk straight to the castle gate instead of queuing at the ticket office. On busy summer days that queue builds up, and the Underground Tourist Route in particular sells timed slots that can sell out — arriving with your ticket already booked means you keep the time you wanted.

What is the difference between the tickets?

The Castle with Audioguide ticket covers the interiors, terraces and Palm House. Castle + Underground adds a guided walk through the WWII tunnels beneath the castle and is our most popular option. The Underground ticket is the tunnels on their own. The Palm House ticket is just the tropical greenhouse. The Explore Wałbrzych pass bundles the castle with several other city sites over 12 months.

What exactly is the 'Underground' route?

Beneath Książ Castle runs part of 'Riese' (German for 'giant'), a huge network of tunnels that Nazi Germany began carving into the rock from 1943 and never completed. The guided Underground Tourist Route takes you through these raw passages and explains what they were, who dug them, and why the project was abandoned. It is one of the most striking things to see at Książ.

Is the Underground on a fixed time?

Yes. The Underground Tourist Route runs as a guided walk on timed slots with limited group sizes. You choose your slot at checkout. The castle interiors and Palm House are open-date, so you can visit those any time during opening hours on your chosen day.

How and when do I get my ticket?

We email your ticket after we complete the booking on the operator's system, usually within a few hours and always before your visit date. It arrives as a mobile ticket you can show on your phone at the gate — no printer needed.

Do you speak English? The operator's site is in Polish.

Yes — that is much of the point. The official ticketing runs mainly in Polish, so we handle the portal for you and answer your questions in your own language at any hour. You book on a clear English page and we do the rest.

Is the Palm House at the castle?

Not quite — the Palm House (Palmiarnia) is a short distance from the castle, at ul. Wrocławska 158 in the Lubiechów part of Wałbrzych. It is included in the Castle with Audioguide and Explore tickets, and also sold on its own.

How much walking is involved?

A fair amount. Książ is a large hilltop site with grounds, courtyards, terraces and many stairs, and the Underground Route is entirely on foot over uneven rock. Wear comfortable shoes, and bring a warm layer for the tunnels, which stay cool all year.

Is it suitable for children?

Yes, families visit often. The tunnels and the Princess Daisy story tend to capture children's imaginations. Bear in mind the amount of walking and stairs, and that the Underground is a guided walk best suited to older children who can keep pace with the group.

Can I change my date?

For open-date tickets you simply visit on the day that suits you within their validity. For the timed Underground slot, message us as early as you can — if the operator has another slot open, we will rebook you onto it. Always contact us before your slot rather than after.

What is your refund policy?

All sales are final once your ticket is issued. You are only charged once your booking is confirmed, and we refund in full only if the operator cancels your visit. Because these are dated admission products, they cannot be refunded after issue simply because plans change — so pick your date with care.

Why book with you instead of at the gate?

Because your day starts inside the castle rather than in a queue, everything is arranged in English, you lock in the Underground slot you want before it sells out, and you travel with a mobile ticket, an audio history and a real support team behind you if anything comes up.

Is this the official castle website?

No. We are an independent concierge service and we say so plainly. We buy genuine tickets on your behalf from the official operator, Zamek Książ, and include our service fee in one clear price. You can always book directly with the operator if you prefer.

Can I combine Książ with nearby places?

Absolutely. Książ pairs well with the Old Mine (Stara Kopalnia) and Porcelain Museum in Wałbrzych — all on the Explore pass — and with the Adršpach rock town just over the Czech border. Ask us and we will help you plan the day.

Is the castle open all year?

Książ is open year-round most days, with longer hours in the warmer months and shorter ones in winter. Some rooms, the terraces and seasonal features can vary with the calendar and events, so we confirm the exact hours for your date with your booking.

What if I have a problem on the day?

Message us. Our support runs 24/7 across time zones, so if anything is unclear at the gate or your plans shift, there is a real person to help rather than a form and a long wait.
