Visiting Książ Castle with Kids

Why children love the tunnels and the castle, and how to plan a smooth family day

Updated July 2026 · Książ Castle Tickets Concierge Team

Książ is a genuinely good castle for children: a huge fortress, secret-feeling tunnels and a real princess's story. A little planning makes the day smooth for everyone.

What kids enjoy

The Underground Route is the star for most children — real tunnels dug into the rock, with a story to match. The state rooms and the Princess Daisy tale bring the castle to life, and the grounds give little ones room to move between the indoor parts.

Planning a family visit

Expect a lot of walking and stairs, so pace the day and take breaks on the terraces. Bring warm layers for the tunnels and comfortable shoes for everyone. The Underground is a guided walk that suits older children who can keep with the group; for very young ones, the castle-and-Palm-House combination is the easier choice.

Frequently asked

Is there an age limit for the tunnels?

The Underground is a guided walk over uneven ground; it suits older children comfortably. For toddlers, the castle interiors and Palm House are the gentler option. Message us if you are unsure.

Is it pushchair-friendly?

Only partly — Książ is a hilltop site with cobbles and stairs, and the tunnels are not suitable for pushchairs. A carrier is easier for small children.
